| Hello Readers! I need a weekend from my weekend. That is the most accurate summary of where I am right now. Holiday weekends with family and friends are wonderful and I am grateful for every moment of them and also I am absolutely exhausted and currently running on caffeine and sheer momentum. The good news: actual vacation is next week. A real one. With actual rest and everything. The better news: there is a lot to share before I get there. The Richmond Academy Series — Where We Are Five books. One year. Three in your hands right now and two more locked and loaded for the rest of 2026. If you’ve been meaning to start — or catch up — now is the perfect moment. By December the whole series will be complete and ready to binge from start to finish. Trial by Fire — Book one. Shayla arrives at Richmond Academy unable to control her spark. Everything starts here. Available now and on Kindle Unlimited. Trial by Sea — Book two. Deeper secrets, underwater trials, and a mermaid heritage with a very inconvenient price tag. Out now and on Kindle Unlimited. Trial by Earth — Book three. The pivot point. Darker twists, earth powers, and Georgios’s Minotaur heritage stepping fully into the light. Out now and on Kindle Unlimited. Trial by Air — Book four. Shayla finally gets to fly. October 2026. Pre-order open now. Trial by Spirit — Book five. The finale. Shayla’s ending. December 2026. Pre-order open now. Not Your Maniac Pixie Dream Girl — Out Now Wisteria Creed is out in the world and I am still not over it. Two years. Multiple full rewrites. A short story that became a novel that became the first book of a trilogy — because Wisteria refused to be anything less than exactly right. She is paranormal romance with urban fantasy bones, slow-burn romance, found family, and a protagonist who refuses at every turn to be what the story expected her to be. If you haven’t met her yet — she’s waiting. Read Not Your Maniac Pixie Dream Girl now And already deep in progress — Not Your Book Boyfriend, book two of the Not As Written series. Wisteria has the life she fought for. New Avalon is about to send someone perfect to watch over her. Perfect is not what it looks like. Coming later this year. A Question for You — What Are You Reading This Fall? October is almost here and spooky season is officially knocking on the door. Paranormal romance, dark fantasy, urban fantasy, witchy contemporaries — this is the season for all of it. So I want to know: what’s on your fall reading list? What are you reaching for when the nights get longer and the air gets cooler? Hit reply and tell me. I read every single one and I love knowing what you’re all reading out there. Bonus points if it’s something I haven’t heard of yet. Anthologies Still Available Once Upon A Fairytale — Original dark fantasy fairytales, available for pre-order at $0.99. My contribution Half-Coin Promise — two best friends, a split coin, and a promise that carries them through labyrinths, fog-wrapped citadels, and cursed valleys all the way to their happily ever after. Seasons of Magic: Summer — Out now. My story The Flames of Lammas is inside — emotional, transformative, and the kind of magic that stays with you. Pre-order Once Upon A Fairytale for $0.99 Grab Seasons of Magic: Summer From the Writing Cave — On Vacation and What That Actually Means Next week I am going on vacation. A real one. I am very excited about this. Here is what I have told myself vacation will look like: complete rest, full recharge, total switch-off from work. A proper break from everything. Here is what vacation will actually look like: I will absolutely be writing down new ideas the moment they show up uninvited, which they will, because that is what my brain does. I will probably be reading — because reading is both joy and research and I genuinely cannot separate the two anymore. And when my editor sends notes back they are coming with me, because that is just the reality of a December deadline. I would be genuinely shocked if I managed a full clean break. Shocked and slightly suspicious of myself. But the point is to rest in the ways I actually can — to step away from the daily grind of the writing cave, see some different walls, breathe some different air, and come back in October ready for what is shaping up to be a very full final quarter of the year. Trial by Air in October. Trial by Spirit in December. Not Your Book Boyfriend later this year. The finish line is in sight and I want to cross it with something left in the tank. So. Vacation. Mostly. Approximately. We’ll see. Thank you for being here through September. It has been a sprint and you have been the best possible reason to keep showing up every week.Happy Reading, Wendy P.S. I’ll be honest — the thing I am most looking forward to on vacation is reading books that have nothing to do with my own deadlines. And the thing I am least looking forward to is coming back to find out how many ideas my brain quietly accumulated while I was “resting.” Trial by Spirit isn’t going to write itself. December is closer than it looks. Retirement was the plan. Falling for a vampire wasn’t.I Already Planned My Retirement: A Vampire Romance Series is now available on Amazon via Paperback and Ebook. Hers was written a hundred years before she would live it.An epic World War II historical romance that sweeps from the hills of South India to the cotton fields of Georgia, from the ruins of Italy to the burning river fords of Persia – bound by an ancient stone and a love the war could not kill.In a burning village in 1845, dying people broke an ancient jade stone in two and carried one half across the black water into the unknown, keeping a single promise: that one day it would find the two souls it was made for, and no ocean, no war, no turning of the world would keep them apart.Georgia, 1941. Rose Ashford Vale wears that half at her throat and believes it only a keepsake. She is the brightest girl in the county, and everywhere her yellow dress goes, two young men follow: golden Ray Dalton, adored and certain she will be his, and quiet Jack Mercer, who has never once mistaken her dazzling smile for her heart. The county calls them the two shadows. Rose calls it a choice she is in no hurry to make. But the stone at her throat doesn’t care what the county expects, or what Ray has planned. It was made to find the two who are fated to see clear through – and its long wait is nearly over. Then the war comes for them all, flinging Rose and both her shadows to the far ends of the earth — and the stone begins, at last, to wake. When grief arrives with a story she cannot make herself believe, Rose takes up the bright mask that once caged her, wears it now like a blade, and sets out to cross a world that was never built for a woman to cross.
