About the book
Fallon Serrano built the Devil’s Handmaidens to do the work the system refuses: run the border, hunt the traffickers, bring people home. As Leona of the Southwest chapter, she’s crossed every line worth crossing. She thought she’d drawn the only one that mattered — never again let Dove Winters close enough to break her.
Then Dove shows up at her door in the middle of a storm.
Three years ago, Dove Winters walked away from the outlaw world — and the woman she loved — because she couldn’t watch Fallon choose the gun over the girl. She built a new life: law degree, clean hands, no looking back. But her younger sister has been taken by the Serpientes Cartel, the authorities have a file and no plan, and Dove is out of options.
Fallon is the only person alive who can bring Eden home. She’s also the last person Dove ever wanted to need again.
What follows is six hundred miles of desert, a cartel with nothing to lose, and two women carrying three years of unfinished business through every mile of it. They can save Eden. What they can’t promise is that they’ll come out the other side without finishing what they started.
The fire never went out. They just stopped feeding it.
